MyWalit was founded in Lucca, Italy in 2005, when the first shop was opened in the old Roman Ampitheatre at the centre of the cosmopolitan shopping district in the heart of the Tuscan town. MyWalit's founder, Chris Howell reurned to designing walets after a brief retirement from the leather industry. With his friend andbusiness partner, Achova, he began production of leather goods in Thailand. The elephant, a national symbol of Thailand, was incorporated into the MyWalit logo to pay hommage to the country and its craftsmen.
